See every handoff in the claim or the loan file.
Wavelength is for claims, underwriting, and loan operations leads who need to find where the process stalls. You map the current process, add active and wait time per step, and the summary shows the wait percent. You see the handoffs that eat the cycle time, and you can compare the current state against a future state side by side.
The expensive part of a claim or a loan file is not the work. It is the wait between handoffs. The adjuster waits for the inspector. The underwriter waits for the appraisal. The loan officer waits for the borrower's documents. Each wait is invisible on a flowchart that only shows the steps, and each wait is where the cycle time hides.
The demo needs no account. The free plan needs no card.
Why cycle time is hard to see
You draw the process map after the workshop with the steps in order. It looks correct. It shows every decision and every handoff. What it does not show is that the inspection step waits a day for the inspector to schedule, or that the appraisal waits three days for the report. The map is right, but the cycle time is a mystery because the waits are not on it.
The fix is to put the waits on the map. Add wait minutes to the handoff steps and the summary bar shows the total wait time and the wait percent. The steps with the longest waits are the ones to fix first.
How it works
- Map the current process. Describe the claim or loan workflow out loud, or upload a recording. The actors, steps, decisions, and handoffs appear on the canvas as you mention them.
- Add metrics to the steps that matter. Set active and wait minutes on the handoff steps. The metrics summary shows total active time, total wait time, and the wait percent.
- Turn on the heat map. The metrics heat map colors each step by its wait time, so the bottlenecks stand out on the canvas at a glance.
- Compare current vs future state. Save the current process as one flow and the future state as another. Open Compare and the two diagrams sit side by side with the differences highlighted.
- Export BPMN for the loan file. Choose Export and then BPMN 2.0 for a .bpmn file that opens in Camunda Modeler or bpmn.io.
The wait percent tells you where to look
The metrics summary shows the wait percent, which is the share of total cycle time spent waiting rather than working. A high wait percent means the process loses time between steps, not in them. Fix the handoffs, not the work.
What the map includes
The diagram shows every decision in the claim or loan chain as a diamond with labeled paths. Each step has an owner when the conversation names who does it. The metrics summary bar shows total active time, total wait time, and the wait percent. You can export a CSV of the steps and metrics, or a BPMN 2.0 file for the loan file.
Where it does not fit
Wavelength is not a claims or loan system. It does not manage claims, pull policies, run credit checks, order appraisals, or disburse funds. It maps the workflow and finds the bottlenecks. You fix the bottlenecks in your core system.
Do not paste personal data into transcripts. Describe the process in general terms, not a specific customer's claim or application. Wavelength maps the workflow, not the customer data. If you need to reference a real file, describe the steps without names, account numbers, or policy details.
Common questions
Can I show active and wait time per step?
Yes. Add active and wait minutes to the steps that matter. The metrics summary shows total active time, total wait time, and the wait percent, so you can see where the claim or loan file stalls.
Can I compare current state against a future state?
Yes. Save the current process as one flow and the future state as another. Open Compare and the two diagrams sit side by side with the differences highlighted.
Can I export BPMN for the loan file?
Yes. Choose Export and then BPMN 2.0 for a .bpmn file that opens in Camunda Modeler or bpmn.io. The file uses standard BPMN element shapes and swimlanes by role.
Do I need to paste customer data into the transcript?
No. Describe the process in general terms, not a specific customer's claim or application. Wavelength maps the workflow, not the customer data. Do not paste personal data into transcripts.
Is this a claims or loan system?
No. Wavelength documents the process. It does not manage claims, pull policies, run credit checks, or disburse funds. Use it to map the workflow and find the bottlenecks, then fix them in your core system.
