AI and your data

Effective October 6, 2026.

Wavelength uses AI to turn speech and text into diagrams. This page tells you what happens to your content at each step.

When you hold the mic

  1. Your browser records a short audio clip.
  2. Wavelength sends the clip to Groq for speech-to-text.
  3. Groq returns the text. We do not store the audio. We store only the length of the clip, so we can count your plan's mic minutes.

When you upload a screen recording or a photo

  1. Your browser opens the file on your computer. The video file and the photo are not uploaded to Wavelength.
  2. For a screen recording, your browser picks the frames where the screen changed, at most 24 frames. For a photo, your browser makes one smaller copy.
  3. Wavelength sends these images to Groq. The AI model returns short notes about the steps it sees.
  4. We save the notes with your transcript. We do not store the images or the video.

When you import a Visio, draw.io, or Mermaid file, your browser reads the file. The file is not sent to Wavelength or to an AI model. We save only the diagram that it makes.

When the AI builds your diagram

  1. Wavelength sends your transcript text to Groq.
  2. The AI model returns the diagram.
  3. We save the transcript and the diagram in your account.
