Wavelength Try the live demo

Scope the automation on the call. Import the skeleton into n8n.

Wavelength is for n8n, Make, and Zapier freelancers and agencies. You map the client's process while they describe it on the discovery call, share the link for sign off, and export an n8n workflow skeleton with a trigger, an If node for each decision, and a placeholder for each step.

The slow part of scoping an automation is not the building. It is turning the client's description into a structure you can build from. You take notes on the call, redraw the flow afterward, and hope you caught every branch. The first build rarely matches what the client actually said because something was lost between the call and the canvas.

How it works

  1. Map the process live on the discovery call. Hold the mic and let the client describe how work moves today. The actors, systems, decisions, and steps appear on the canvas as they are mentioned.
  2. Share the link for client sign off. Send the flow to the client and they see the same diagram you built on the call. They can correct it before you build anything.
  3. Check the dashed amber lines. Those are the connections Wavelength inferred rather than heard. Confirm them with the client before you export.
  4. Export the n8n workflow. Choose Export and then n8n workflow to download a .json file you can import straight into n8n.

What is in the file

The export gives you a Manual Trigger, an If node for each decision in the process with Yes on the true output, a No Op node named after each step, the notes from each step on the node, and a sticky note. It is a skeleton with the structure and labels already in place, so you start from a mapped workflow instead of a blank canvas.

What is not in the file

There are no credentials and no node settings. You add those in n8n after you import. The export is a structural skeleton, not a working workflow. It tells you what to build and in what order, so the building goes faster and the branches do not get missed.

There is also no Make or Zapier export yet. For those platforms, use the PNG or Mermaid export in your scope document so the client signs off on the same picture you build from.

Where it does not fit

Wavelength does not write the n8n node configuration for you. It gives you the skeleton. If the client needs a working workflow delivered, you still wire up the credentials, the API calls, and the error handling in n8n yourself.

It also does not design the data model. If the automation needs a database schema or a data transformation pipeline, scope that separately. Wavelength captures the process flow, not the data structure underneath it.

Common questions

What is in the n8n workflow export?

A Manual Trigger, an If node for each decision in the process with Yes on the true output, a No Op node named after each step, the notes from each step, and a sticky note. It is a skeleton for you to fill in, not a working workflow.

Does the n8n export include credentials or node settings?

No. There are no credentials and no node settings. You add those in n8n after you import the skeleton. The export gives you the structure and the labels so you do not start from a blank canvas.

Can I export to Make or Zapier?

Not yet. For Make and Zapier, use the PNG or Mermaid export in the scope document. The n8n format is the only automation export today.

Can the client sign off on the scope before I build?

Yes. Share a link to the flow and the client sees the same diagram you built on the call. They can correct it before you export, so the skeleton you import matches what they agreed to.

What if the client's process has branches I did not catch?

Check the dashed amber lines. Those are the connections Wavelength inferred rather than heard. Confirm them with the client on the call before you export.
