HR sends the offer and the new hire accepts. On day one, HR sends a welcome email and hands off to IT. IT provisions the laptop and creates the email and Slack accounts. The manager assigns a first-week checklist. At the end of the week the manager reviews the checklist. If it is complete, onboarding is done. If it is not, the manager follows up on the missing items and re-checks.
