Use Wavelength inside Claude and ChatGPT

Works with Claude Claude ChatGPT ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT to map a process, list your flows, or edit a flow in plain English. Sign in with your Wavelength account. No API key.

Flows now show as an interactive diagram inside the chat. You can pan, zoom, and drag nodes, then open the flow in Wavelength to keep editing.

Server URL

Copy this URL and paste it into Claude or ChatGPT when you add a custom connector.

https://wavelengthflow.com/api/mcp

How to connect

Claude Claude

  1. Copy the connector URL.
  2. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
  3. Click Add, then Add custom connector.
  4. Name it Wavelength, paste the URL, click Add.
  5. Click Connect, sign in with your Wavelength account, and click Approve.
  6. In a new chat, click + and turn on Wavelength.

ChatGPT ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Open Plugins in the sidebar, click the + button, then Create app, then Create MCP App.
  3. Name it Wavelength, paste the connector URL, and set Authentication to OAuth.
  4. Tick "I understand and want to continue", click Create, sign in with your Wavelength account, and click Approve.
  5. In a new chat, click + and select Wavelength.

Already connected before September 24, 2026? We moved the connector to a new sign-in. In Claude, open Customize, Connectors, Wavelength, click Disconnect, then Connect. In ChatGPT, open Settings, Plugins, Wavelength, delete the app, then add it again with the same URL. A reconnect alone does not work in ChatGPT.

Connect a coding tool

The same URL works in coding tools that support remote MCP servers with OAuth. Add the server, then sign in with your Wavelength account when the tool asks. These setup steps follow each tool's own documentation. If a step does not match your version, check the tool's MCP help page.

Claude Code

Run this command in your terminal, then type /mcp in Claude Code and select Wavelength to sign in.

claude mcp add --transport http wavelength https://wavelengthflow.com/api/mcp

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project). Then open Cursor Settings, MCP, and click Connect next to Wavelength.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wavelength": { "url": "https://wavelengthflow.com/api/mcp" }
  }
}

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your project, or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette. Click Start above the server, then sign in when VS Code asks.

{
  "servers": {
    "wavelength": { "type": "http", "url": "https://wavelengthflow.com/api/mcp" }
  }
}

Windsurf

Add this to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json, then refresh the MCP servers in Windsurf and sign in.

The tools

Read tools change nothing. Write tools change your own Wavelength data. Sensitive writes delete data, make a flow public, give another person access, or write to an outside system.

Security

Sign-in uses OAuth. Each tool acts only as the signed-in user. Your plan limits apply the same way as in the app. Transcripts are never used to train a model. Read the full privacy policy.

Read-only mode. To let AI tools read your flows but never change them, open Wavelength, then Settings, AI connector, and turn on read-only mode. Every write tool then refuses with a clear message. Only you can turn it off, from inside the app.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Wavelength account?

Yes. A free account works, and new accounts get a 7 day Pro trial with no card required.

Which AI apps can use it?

Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, and Windsurf. In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode first. Any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth can connect to the same URL.

Can an AI tool change my flows by mistake?

Turn on read-only mode in Settings, AI connector. The AI can still list, read, search, summarize, and export your flows, but it cannot create, edit, share, or delete anything.

Can I bring a diagram from another tool?

Yes. Ask the AI to call import_diagram with Mermaid code, draw.io XML, or an SVG. The shapes become nodes and the connectors become edges. Exact positions and colors are not kept.

Does it cost extra?

No. It uses your normal Wavelength plan.
