Lucidchart pricing, plan by plan

Lucidchart has four plans: Free, Individual, Team, and Enterprise. This page lists what each plan costs, what each plan limits, and what a team pays in a year. All Lucid numbers come from Lucid's own pricing page.

Wavelength is a voice to diagram tool that turns a spoken process or a call transcript into an editable flowchart. We compete with Lucidchart for process maps, so we also show our own prices at the end, and we say when Lucidchart is the better buy.

We checked Lucid's pricing page on October 6, 2026. Prices and limits change. Check the page before you buy.

Lucid's FAQ says the free trial lasts seven days, that you add payment information when you sign up, and that billing starts automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel. Lucid also offers monthly billing. The prices above are the annual prices that Lucid shows on the pricing page.

What the Free plan really allows

Three editable documents is the limit most people hit first. A fourth diagram means you delete or archive one. The 75 shape limit per document is the second limit. A simple approval flow fits. A cross-team process with swimlanes, systems, and decision branches often does not.

The Free plan also does not export to Visio. Lucid's help center says Visio export needs an Individual, Team, or Enterprise account. That matters if you ever want to move your diagrams to another tool.

What a team pays in a year

These numbers use the annual list prices on Lucid's pricing page. They do not include tax or any discount.

Team sizeLucidchart Team per yearWavelength Pro per year
1 person$108 on Individual ($9 x 12)$199.90
5 people$600$999.50
20 people$2,400$3,998

Lucidchart is cheaper per seat on list price. That is a fair point, and we will not hide it. The question is what you pay for. A Lucidchart seat buys a fast, general drawing canvas. A Wavelength seat buys a tool that draws the process for you while someone talks, with voice editing, SOP output, and transcript import. If your team spends hours a week drawing process maps by hand, the time cost is larger than the seat cost.

Also, not every person on a team needs a Wavelength seat. Only the people who build the maps need one. Everyone else can open a shared link with no account.

Costs that are easy to miss

The seat price is not the whole cost. Check these before you sign:

Which Lucidchart plan to pick

Ways to spend less

  1. Check what you already pay for. Microsoft lists a lightweight Visio web app as included in Microsoft 365 commercial plans. Visio Plan 1 is $5 per user per month, paid yearly. See Visio vs Lucidchart.
  2. Use a free tool for simple diagrams. draw.io is free and open source. See draw.io vs Lucidchart.
  3. Give seats only to builders. In most tools, viewers do not need a paid seat. Check the vendor's terms.
  4. Pay yearly if you are sure. Both Lucid and Wavelength charge less per month on annual billing.

When Lucidchart is the better buy

Buy Lucidchart, not Wavelength, when you need many diagram types in one tool: UML, ERD, network, org charts, wireframes, and process maps together. Buy it when your team already works in Confluence and Jira every day and needs the diagrams there. And buy it when the lowest price per seat is the main rule for the purchase. Wavelength only does process and data flows, and it costs more per seat.

Yes. Lucid's FAQ says the trial lasts seven days. You add payment information at sign up, and Lucid bills you when the trial ends unless you cancel.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Lucidchart?

draw.io is free and open source. Visio Plan 1 is $5 per user per month paid yearly. Wavelength has a free plan with 5 saved flows and no card, and Starter at $9.99 per month.

Why is Wavelength Pro more expensive per seat than Lucidchart Team?

Wavelength runs speech recognition and AI models on every map it builds, and that has a real cost per user. It does one job, process maps from a conversation, and saves the time you would spend drawing.
