Where Visio costs you the meeting
The failure is specific. Someone is describing an approval process on a discovery call:
"A purchase request goes to the department head. Anything over ten thousand dollars also needs the CFO. Procurement then creates the PO in SAP and sends it to the vendor."
Opening Visio here does not help. You would be choosing a stencil set and placing shapes while the person keeps talking, and the half of your attention on the canvas is the half that should have caught the words "over ten thousand dollars." So most people take notes instead and rebuild it afterward, which costs time after every call and rebuilds it from memory, so the errors are now yours.
Wavelength draws it as the sentence lands. The department head, the CFO, and procurement become actors. Over ten thousand dollars becomes a decision branch with the CFO on the yes side. SAP becomes a system. For the formal handoff, export the flow as BPMN 2.0 with a lane for each owner.
The dashed amber lines
When Wavelength connects two things you did not explicitly say were connected, it draws that link dashed and amber rather than solid. On a diagram you are about to send a customer as a record of what was agreed, knowing which two or three connections were inferred is the whole difference between useful and risky.
The workflow in Wavelength
Capture in Wavelength during the session. Share your screen once there is something to look at, so the customer corrects it in the room rather than two weeks later. Export the PNG and send the recap the same day.
If the engagement needs a formal file, export the signed-off flow as BPMN 2.0 and open it in Camunda Modeler or bpmn.io. Or export draw.io or PowerPoint for a document. The map the business agreed to is the map you deliver.

Can I import my existing Visio files?

Can I export to a Visio file?
Wavelength exports PNG, PDF, PowerPoint, draw.io, Mermaid, and BPMN 2.0 on every plan. For an editable file, use draw.io, BPMN 2.0, or PowerPoint.
Does Wavelength do BPMN?
It exports BPMN 2.0. On the canvas it uses 8 node types: start, end, step, decision, data, system, actor, and screen. That is deliberate. A small set of types is what lets the AI assign a shape from speech in real time. Export a flow as a .bpmn file to open it in Camunda Modeler or bpmn.io. See BPMN 2.0 export.
